Further Information about the Persecution of Five Falun Dafa Practitioners by the Domestic Security Division of Huailai County, Zhangjiakou City

(Clearwisdom.net) The following account provides additional information on recent persecution encountered by Huailai County Falun Gong practitioners in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province:

At 2:00 p.m. on October 9, 2007, Ms. Li Fengqin, Mr. Wang Cunlai, Ms. Xu Shaorong, and Mr. Kang went to visit Ms. Wang Yanjun. Zhao Guicheng, along with six to seven policemen from the county Domestic Security Division, broke into Ms. Wang's house. Without showing any warrants, they started searching the house illegally. They took away several Dafa books, over ten MP3 players, a DVD player, two tape recorders, many truth-clarification materials, and around 100 yuan in cash. Mr. Kang, who is more than 70 years old, went downstairs to confront the police but because he is old, sick, and weak, he was pulled back upstairs.

Zhao Guicheng lied to the practitioners and said that once they were registered at the Domestic Security Division, they would be let go. The practitioners refused to cooperate with the persecution. Zhao then punched and kicked Ms. Li Fengqin and Mr. Wang Cunlai.

Mr. Wang was taken to a criminal police team and two policemen handcuffed his hands behind him on an iron chair. He refused to answer the officers' questions. One policeman slapped him and then forced mustard oil into his nose and mouth. Mr. Wang was handcuffed for a long time, resulting in a loss of feeling in his hands that persists even today. Witnesses said that after the torture session that night, Wang Cunlai's face was swollen and his mouth and hands were bloody. He appeared emaciated and his clothes were torn. Police tied him to an iron chair and interrogated her for most of the night but he refused to answer them.

Even as they were being persecuted in the Domestic Security Division, Ms. Wang Yanjun and other practitioners kindly advised the policemen not to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners. The practitioners told them that good and evil are justly rewarded. Huailai County 610 Office chief Li Guanghui and policewoman Meng of the Domestic Security Division slandered Teacher Li Hongzhi. That same day, Li Guanghui had a stroke and could no longer work. A few days later, a family member of Zhao Guicheng, the leader of Domestic Security Division, was struck with a severe illness.

On the morning of October 10, policemen took photographs of Ms. Wang Yanjun, even though she tried to prevent them. Several police officers made efforts to move her head and drag her by her arms. They then dragged her from the 4th floor to the ground floor. They dragged her into a police car and took her to Tongji Hospital for a physical exam. She refused to cooperate and asked to be sent home. Several policemen in turn dragged her across the ground for a long time. Finally policeman Zhang pulled her by her handcuffs, causing unbearable pain. They put her in police car and took her to Ertaizi Detention Center. Ms. Wang Yanjun was in terrible pain and was black and blue for some time.

The detention center officials initially refused to accept Mr. Kang due to his poor health, but the police from the Domestic Security Division forced them to admit him. The inmates were coerced into beating the 70-year-old Mr. Kang, which worsened his condition. The prison officials let Mr. Kang go home on October 12 for fear of having to take responsibility for his condition. However, the police from the Domestic Security Division took this opportunity to extort 2,000 yuan from Mr. Kang.

At 9:00 a.m. on October 11, Zhao Guicheng, along with seven to eight policemen, broke into Ms. Liu Zhonghong's house in Bali Township. At that time only Ms. Liu was at home. The policemen searched her entire house and took away five Dafa books, truth-clarification materials, and her daughter's computer and printer. One policeman ripped the MP3 player from Liu Zhonghong's neck. Zhao Guicheng kicked her twice. When Ms. Liu's husband came home, he found the house in shambles and thought it was a robbery. His wife had disappeared and he could not find her anywhere. He did not know that she was under arrest until the next day.

Ms. Liu Zhonghong's family went to the Domestic Security Division, asking for the reason behind her illegal arrest. Officials Wang Guanyuan and Meng (female) treated the family rudely, and Zhao Guicheng threatened to beat one of the family members. Liu Zhonghong's mother-in-law cried all day and worried about her son and daughter-in-law.

On the morning of October 11, Domestic Security Division police officers Wang Guanyuan and Meng broke into the basement in the home of Ms. Wang Yanjun's mother-in-law. They conducted a search, but returned empty handed. This made the 73-year-old woman sick with fright, and she still has not recovered. Ms. Wang's daughter had always been healthy until after her mother was locked up. She missed her mother and did not have anyone to look after her. She often had stomachaches and was diagnosed with appendicitis. She had an operation, leaving her with a chronic backache. Ms. Wang Yanjun's husband runs several enterprises. The businesses are prosperous because he is a good person according to "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" and he treats his customers well. When his wife was illegally detained, he sought help everywhere and spent over 30,000 yuan. There was nowhere to appeal and in the end Ms. Wang Yanjun was authorized for arrest. Her husband must now worry about his enterprises and look after their teen-aged daughter. Her parents-in-law are over 80 years old. They miss their daughter day and night and can't sleep well. Wang Yanjun's health condition was not good previously. She had severe thyroid problems, low blood sugar, rheumatism, neurasthenia, gallbladder problems, and many other diseases. She often stayed in bed for long periods of time. After she started to practice Falun Gong, the diseases disappeared. Her body and mind were healthy and she became compassionate to others. Wang Yanjun's husband really worries that her old diseases may reoccur due to the harsh conditions in the detention center. He himself has hypertension and is under great strain.

On November 19, Ms. Li Fengqin, Mr. Wang Cunlai, and Ms. Liu Zhonghong were released after being compelled to write a guarantee statement declaring that they will stop practicing Falun Gong. Domestic Security Division officials again took advantage of the situation to extort 3,000 yuan from Ms. Li, 6,000 yuan from Ms. Liu, and 5,000 yuan from Mr. Wang (though this was reduced to 2,500 yuan due to to family hardship). Procuratorate Chief Prosecutor Niu authorized the arresting Branch Section Chief Xu to extort 5,000 yuan from Ms. Li Fengqin. The detention center extorted another 700 yuan from each person.

After the other practitioners returned home, Ms. Wang Yanjun continued to be persecuted. Her physical condition worsened every day. Her thyroid condition, low blood sugar, and other diseases recurred. Her chest and back were painful throughout the day. She could not eat and her pulse reached 180 beats per minute. Fearing her death, the detention center took Ms. Wang to the hospital for emergency treatment. Two days after returning to the detention center, she was again hospitalized. Three days later, Zhao Guicheng extorted 5,000 yuan from her and released her.
