(Clearwisdom.net) Today I was reading a fellow practitioner's article "Fundamentally Saving People" where a practitioner's cousin developed cancer which would shortly take his life. The practitioner went to his cousin's house with one compassionate thought: to tell his cousin to remember "Falun Dafa is good." His cousin recited "Falun Dafa is good" and the whole family also started to recite "Falun Dafa is good." In this way a miracle started to unfold as the cousin continued to recite. Others helped him drink water by giving it to him spoonful by spoonful, and he was able to drink it without vomiting. He started breathing better and went to the toilet in the evening. The next day he drank six cups of buttermilk, and on the third day he ate some egg drop soup. By the fifth day he was eating and drinking as normal.

This made me suddenly think of my uncle. Not long ago he developed cancer of the esophagus, and I had also wanted to have him know about the profound effects of practicing Falun Dafa. I asked him about it and in the end he told me he would rather die than believe what I was telling him, which made me feel regretful. But reading this practitioner's article today, when comparing myself against this practitioner I suddenly realized this practitioner had acted on a single compassionate thought, without intention, without pursuit. However, from the moment I acted I entered into a state of having a specific goal or intention, having pursuit, and quietly holding onto a human mentality. This was not in accordance with Dafa's principle of pursuing nothing and gaining naturally in a state of no intention. This impure thought meant that my efforts to save my uncle were in vain.

I also discovered that this human heart was very cleverly hidden, and pervasive. For example, in order to have people know that I was good at calligraphy, I would write a character on the blackboard for everyone to see, so they would accept that I was indeed very talented. When saving people, I was also this way, when I should have focused the intention on strengthening my heart for wanting to save this person. That way I could have done things freely and naturally achieved the goal, with a better result. But I did the opposite, by emphasizing my own motives it became a strong intention, I didn't believe in myself, and was worried that I might not be able to save this person. So I wasn't stable and composed, and had a heart full of intention. Intention is an attachment, which is exactly what we have to get rid of in the cultivation process. For this reason I was unable to attain the state of manifesting Dafa's might, and was full of gaps.

Intention is an attachment. With attachments, naturally we won't achieve Dafa's standard of selflessness. We should calmly think it over: When doing the three things, or anything else for that matter, are we still using the heart of pursuing a specific result, and further thinking about what will happen next and how we will handle it? What will succeed is the Fa, but what has the goal is the human heart, and the human heart cannot succeed by itself. When we have no human heart as we go about doing things, Dafa's power will manifest through us. And what is there that the Fa isn't capable of?
