(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Liu Guihua is from Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province. The communist regime illegally sentenced her to prison for practicing Falun Gong. She was held at Harbin Women's Prison for seven years.

Ms. Liu was arrested and detained numerous times. She sold her house and had approximately 160,000 yuan [about 23,000 USD] extorted from her. Her husband divorced her due to the threat of persecution, and her mother suffered tremendously. Her mother died on November 20, 2008, without seeing her daughter for the last time. Ms. Liu now lives away from home.

Mudanjiang Detention Center head sent Liu Guihua to the Harbin Women's Prison

Mudanjiang Detention Center head Yu Chenglong repeatedly attempted to send Ms. Liu to Harbin Women's Prison in 2004. Prison authorities refused to accept her because of her poor health. After taking Ms. Liu back to the detention center, Yu Chenglong tied her spread eagle on the bare wooden bed boards and opened the window to let in the freezing cold wind, making her shiver uncontrollably. She experienced pain and then numbness within ten minutes; her hands turned black and blue from being tied so tightly and swelled to a frightening size. She was forbidden bathroom access for 31 hours. The guards ordered a male doctor to insert a urinary catheter, but Ms. Liu refused to allow it. Yu Chenglong had her untied in the afternoon on the third day. Her wrists and ankles still hurt when untied, as if they had been cut. When several inmates held her up, her heart raced and she felt dizzy and needed help walking to the restroom.

Yu Chenglong sent Ms. Liu to Harbin Women's Prison again in March 2004. Before she left, he attempted to coerce her to sign a document. She refused. He ordered a group of guards and male inmates to drag her out of the room. Yu Chenglong grabbed her hair and slapped her face, and several guards kicked and beat her. They took her to the front hall on the second floor and continued their savage beating. After striking her down, eight guards and inmates stepped on her head, face, chest, and legs while Yu Chenglong grabbed her hair and slapped her face. The beating lasted one hour, and her face turned black and blue and swelled. Then they took her back to the ground floor. Yu Chenglong called several inmates. They put handcuffs and shackles on her and carried her into a vehicle. They beat her again after they got into the vehicle. When another practitioner sitting next to Ms. Liu helped comb her hair, large clumps of her hair fell out. Her face was severely bruised and swollen from the assault. They drove her to the Harbin Women's Prison.

Illegally sentenced to seven years in prison and tortured

Ms. Liu was sent to the prison's Group Drill Division in May 2004. She was forced to sit on a small stool for more than ten hours a day for two years, which caused numbness and pain in her lower limbs, as well as difficulty walking. The officials established Division 4 on March 16, 2006, and dispersed practitioners who refused to renounce their belief to different divisions. Ms. Liu was sent to Division 1, where inmates Xin Zhirong, Li Yanhua, and Zhang Feng savagely beat her many times. For instance, they attacked her violently in July 2006 when she refused to wear a prisoner's uniform. They also took her downstairs from the sixth floor to the prison hospital several hundred meters away for "treatment" on June 11, 2006. She refused to take medications or get injections. Hospital head Zhao Yingling ordered four inmates to bring metal and plastic spoons, chopsticks, and syringes to pry open her mouth and force-feed her drugs. The inside of her mouth was stabbed and severely wounded, and she bled profusely.

Abuses by officials from Yilan County Police Department and Mudanjiang Detention Center

Yilan County police have also persecuted Ms. Liu. Officials from Yilan County Police Department arrested her on January 6, 2000, and held her at a detention center for three months. She also had 5,000 yuan extorted from her.

Wang Minghui, head of the Guanyue Street Police Station, and Liu Yue, head of the Guanyue Street Committee, tried to make Ms. Liu write a guarantee statement in July 2000, but she refused. They held her in the Yilan County Detention Center for more than a month and extorted more than 4,000 yuan from her.

Ms. Liu and several other practitioners went to the countryside in 2001 to distribute Falun Gong flyers. Yilan County Police Department officials arrested and held them in a detention center. They went on a hunger strike, and the guards ordered male inmates to hold Ms. Liu down by her hair and arms while they pried open her mouth. Guards pinched her nose to force her to open her mouth and then poured a bottle of highly concentrated salt water into her mouth. The strong solution burned the skin on the inside of her mouth her tongue, the roof of her mouth, and even her throat. She developed symptoms of illness at 1:00 a.m. The officials tried to take her to a hospital, but she escaped on the way and went to Mudanjiang City.

Officials from Mudanjiang City Domestic Security Division arrested her on October 25, 2002. They hung her up by her hands and poured mustard oil into her eyes, nose, mouth, and ears; wrapped her head in two layers of plastic bags, which nearly suffocated her; violently slapped her face and pried open her mouth with a bamboo stick; and stabbed the inside of her mouth until blood gushed out and then they wiped her mouth with a filthy mop. After two days and nights of nonstop torture, she was transferred to Mudanjiang Detention Center. There she tried to stop the guards from attacking another practitioner in 2003. Official Yu Chenglong had inmates drag her outside. Female guard Zhao Runxia whacked her with hard, white plastic tubing. Yu Chenglong later ordered inmates to take her to the front hall where they savagely beat her. Yu Chenglong demanded that she kneel before them. She firmly refused. He struck her down and kept hitting her until he was exhausted and then ordered male inmates to take her to an empty room where Falun Gong practitioners were tortured. They spread her arms and handcuffed her to a wooden board. She broke free after two days and nights of brutality.
