They arrested him and took him to the Cheng'an County Detention Center. He was sentenced to 18 months of forced labor on October 9. Mr. Gao is presently in the Handan Forced Labor Camp.

According to an insider, Mr. Gao was beaten after he was taken to the police station. His family went to the Chengxi Industrial Zone Police Station, Yang Hongbin's home, Cheng'an County Domestic Security Division, and the county 610 Office to demand his release. The police threatened them, saying that, although Mr. Gao had been sentenced to one year of forced labor, his term would be changed to three years because they claimed his family “made trouble” at the police station and “harassed” Yang Hongbin at home.
