(Clearwisdom.net) Practitioner Ms. Kang Miqiao from Dezhou City, Shandong Province, was retired from the First Cotton Mill. She was over 60 years old. After she started practicing Falun Gong, she benefited both mentally and physically. During the persecution of Falun Gong in the past decade by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Ms. Kang Miqiao suffered arrests, extortion, and repeated imprisonment. Due to the persecution, she became paralyzed and couldn't take care of herself. Ms. Kang died on May 2, 2011.

Ms. Kang began practicing Falun Gong in 1997. Before she started to practice, she had heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes. After she started practicing, she followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to guide her daily conduct and to be a good person. Her illnesses disappeared and her life became fulfilling. Each day, she was immersed in the joy of practicing Falun Gong.

In 1999, the CCP began its persecution of Falun Gong. On July 20, 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was arrested. She was taken back to Dezhou City and held in a guesthouse for three days. The police ordered her to give up Falun Gong, write a guarantee statement, and pay for all transportation costs and living expenses.

In March 2000, Ms. Kang went to Tiananmen Square to appeal again. She was arrested and taken to the Dezhou Liaison Office in Beijing. She was then taken back to Dezhou and held in the Dezhou Detention Center for one month. The Dezhou Public Security Branch Bureau extorted 8,000 yuan from her for transportation and living expenses, causing a great financial burden for her and her family. During this time, her daughter and son were forced to take time off from work to look for their mother.

In 2006, Ms. Kang was arrested when she was distributing informational materials about Falun Gong and was taken to the Hexi Police Station. The police beat her and held her in a detention center. The Hexi Police Station conspired with the State Security Bureau to send Ms. Kang to the Jinan Women's Forced Labor Camp to serve three years. She was brutally abused. As a result, she suffered a severe stroke, and half of her body was paralyzed. The forced labor camp called her family to take her to a hospital for emergency treatment. Later, she suffered from a cerebral hemorrhage and could no longer take care of herself. Ms. Kang Miqiao died on May 2, 2011.

Due to the persecution, Ms. Kang and her family endured great physical pain and mental harm.
